Tutorial - ArtRage Glitter

Here's a tutorial for creating glitter in ArtRage, importing it into PS (I used PSCS3), and creating a pattern and a layer style from it. I hope you find it useful.

Photoshop Tutorial - Repeating Houndstooth Pattern

Seems like houndstooth patterns are all the rage these days. I had never really looked too closely at how this pattern was constructed, and was surprised by what I found. Houndstooth looks at first glance like a fairly complex diagonally-oriented shape repeated over and over. When I set out to break it down and recreate it in Photoshop though, I realized that the repeating pattern is really just two solid blocks and two diagonally-striped blocks, alternating in such a way that it creates the illusion of a complex repeating shape.

Here's a tutorial on making your own houndstooth pattern from scratch. The tutorial was written for PSCS3, but the pattern itself can be replicated in any graphic editor. Have fun!

Nightfall Freebie

Well, I've been making stuff, really! I just haven't been posting anything!!

I hope you like my latest effort - Nightfall. I had this great photo of my kid in her typical 'butt up' sleeping position and wanted to make some clouds and a starry background to float her around on. It's also (obviously!) the kit I used to create my blog template.

Oceania Alpha

So... after the craziness of the holidays, budget submissions at work, and a nasty case of flu in the house, I finally got around to creating an alpha to go with the Oceania page kit. I'd like to do a yellow one as well to contrast with the blue papers, but I finished this blue one and wanted to post it right away.

This is a full alpha with uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and punctuation and there's a bonus background included! Hope you have fun with it.
Download Oceania Alpha HERE.

I was also super excited to get an email from Marie, who was kind enough to share this adorable page she made with the Oceania freebie kit:

It's the first time I've seen something that someone else has done with my designs, so thanks, Marie!! Marie also offers some great freebies of her own on her blog, so go check them out!

This is my first kit, and it was inspired by the lemon tree in my backyard and the gorgeous Pacific Ocean nearby. I hope you enjoy using it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
